This layer can self-repair if damaged, providing long-lasting protection even in harsh environments, including marine settings. Stainless steel is ideal for applications exposed to moisture, chemicals, or saltwater, as it maintains its integrity over time without significant degradation.

Galvanized Steel Handrail: Galvanized steel is coated with a layer of zinc to protect the underlying steel from rust. While this zinc coating provides decent corrosion resistance, it is sacrificial; once the zinc layer wears away (which can happen over time or if the surface is scratched), the underlying steel becomes vulnerable to rusting.
