The hubs that I work on are usually a resurrection job and almost invariably need new cones and axle. The local yoof are most adept at bending and breaking their Carrera rear wheels, especially the 7 speed freewheel variety. The worst damaged are the QR axles because the skewer holds it together until the axle collapses in the middle.
If I'm lucky they notice quite quickly, before the hub has eaten itself. If not they're rapidly heading towards a replacement wheel, which always feels like a defeat IYSWIM.
One question. If you're not running a repair business why do you need 1/4 balls in such quantity? There's 18 in a rear wheel, where's the economy in ordering 10 times what you need?
