Travelling with your yoga mat

07 Apr.,2024

One of the best things about yoga is that you can do it literally anywhere. That means that even if you're heading off on holiday or travelling for business, you can still keep up with your practice. All you need is your yoga mat. But how do you choose the right one for travel? Here are a few things to consider.

Why you should travel with your yoga mat

Traveling with a yoga mat ensures that you can practice yoga wherever you are. You'll always have a clean, comfortable and safe surface to practice on. Not to mention that bringing your travel mat along encourages exploration and adventure finding that perfect spot to welcome the sunrise. Whether you are looking for new ways to challenge yourself or want to join a yoga class in an exotic location, travel mats offer convenience and comfort for each travel situation. Pack light but don't forget your travel mat – and feel the freedom yoga can bring to your journey!

How to pack your yoga mat so it doesn't get damaged

Packing up your yoga mat before heading to the airport can be a tricky task, especially when you don't want to risk damaging it in transit. But with the right approach, it doesn't have to be a tedious experience. If you have a foldable mat, such as one of our travel yoga mats, fold it into thirds and you can pack it in your suitcase. Our mats can be folded for travel and kept in your hand luggage or suitcase. Just make sure you unfold and roll your mat when you reach your destination so keep your mat in the best condition. All of our mats come with a carry strap so you can always just roll the mat and put it in your suitcase or bag or even hand carry. Check with your airline before flying but we've had luck hand carrying on flights around Asia and just put the mat into the overhead bins on the plane.

The best places to practice yoga while travelling

When travelling, yoga can be an excellent way to break up a busy schedule. Luckily, there are some amazing places the world over that provide the perfect setting for a peaceful yoga session. For hotel goers, some hotels will offer rooms already equipped with a dedicated space for yoga or may even host regular classes. If a hotel does not have this option, why not just roll out your mat in the middle of their lush gardens? Beach goers can take advantage of one of life's greatest natural assets by practicing on the sand itself or on the hotel or beach resort's grounds. Island adventure seekers are truly spoilt for choice – many resorts will provide guests with a dedicated platform from which to practice as well as stunning views, making it an unforgettable experience. We've taken to always packing a yoga mat on our roadtrips so whenever inspiration strikes we can unroll the mat in some of the most beautiful locations for a quick flow. So wherever your travels may take you, make sure you find time to just breathe and enjoy some yoga along the way!

Tips for staying motivated to practice yoga while on the road

Staying motivated to practice yoga while on the road can be a challenge, but it doesn't have to be. Set yourself realistic goals, like committing to doing 10 minutes of yoga before bed or when you first wake up. Remember that this practice is yours - do what works for you and don't stress out too much if your travel plans don't allow for a lengthy routine. If you're looking to add a bit more structure, try planning ahead by planning your flows. Can I bring a yoga mat on the plane

Bringing your yoga mat on a plane is an awesome way to make sure you can get your practice in even while waiting for your plane! It's a great way to take your workout anywhere, and makes for some extra padding when things get bumpy. Before you head to the airport, double check the policies of the airline—some may require that you check it as luggage or could have size or weight restrictions.
